Mmmm...cake

If you know me then you know I am very into fitness and I always have been. Never mind the fact that I work out every morning but I get winded walking up the three flights of stairs at work. What's up with that?? *On a side note, if anyone in the Houston area is looking for a gym, let me know. My gym is awesome and I have a one week guest pass and a free lunch pass :)

I recently wrote in my work blog about the excuses that people have to not work out and how when you really think about it, you have NO EXCUSE. One of my coworkers recently had a baby and she works out everyday. If she can do it while working, keeping house and having a baby under 1 year old then anyone can make time to work out.

So now, on to my pitfall....dieting. I suck big time at dieting. I'm not sure what my problem is, but the more I think about what I am eating, the more crap I end up eating! If I'm trying to make an effort to cut out sweets, then all I end up eating is sweets!

I've realized, as I've gotten older, that I'm at the point now where if I feel like I've gained a few pounds I can't just work out and lose them. Now I HAVE to watch what I eat. And the only thing I'm currently watching is the chocolate cake going into my mouth.

So what's my excuse for not eating right?? It's not rhetorical, I'm actually looking for excuses, help me out people!!

Oh Baby!

This past weekend, Rachel and I hosted a baby shower for our friend Kayleigh, who is due in July. She is planning on naming the baby Victoria so I figured I'd better at least throw her a shower! Don't tell Rachel about the name though, Kayleigh doesn't want her to know she's picked it out yet...shhh!

The beautiful Mommy to be!

We had lots of yummy food, and because it was all small in size that means it was all small in calories so you can eat more! And if you know Rachel or me at all then you KNOW we had mimosas. We were good hostesses too and offered regular o.j. for the pregnant chicks.

Rachel arranged all the pretty flowers in "Cafe Lind". I'm thinking about keeping my living room set up this way, you know, just in case a bunch of people stop by and want to have tea or something.

Everyone had a great time making scrap book pages with advice for Kayleigh for after the baby is born. I'm in the process of adding pictures to the book so Baby Victoria can keep it forever and see how many people loved her even before she was born.

It was a super fun day with friends and family and I can't wait to meet Baby K (ok, her name really isn't Victoria, BUT they haven't filled out her birth certificate yet so I'm not giving up hope!) One thing is for sure, Baby K is going to have a lot of Aunts that will want to babysit, and we might have to fist fight Grandmas to do it!!

Spring

We've had such nice weather (off and on) for the past few months. This is the best time to live in Houston, when you can sit outside for lunch or dinner and you don't get too hot or too cold. These are the days when you just want to be outside, even if you have nothing to do except drink margaritas (which btw I always have time for if you're interested).

We had a couple friend of ours over a few weeks ago and they have the cutest little girl. She had never been around big dogs, so we were a little worried, nevermind the fact that we were also dog sitting another lab! Once she got to our house and got comfortable she had a great time feeding the dogs, yanking on their tails, pulling their ears, she even got to ride Lily!

She also loved Lily's crate! And people say you can't just crate train your kids like you do your dogs. They like it!

See that bandaid?? Yep, that was her first boo boo. Can you guess who gave her that boo boo?? if you guessed Jeff you would be...wrong! BUT, if you guessed Lily you would be right on the money.

So, what do you think?? I think Lily needs a little sister ;)

Grown Up

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? I was so many things, that I really can't remember them all!

There are a few careers that I remember thinking I wanted to be. My Grandma always said I would make a great actress. Who knows, she was probably right, I"ve always been over dramatic in my life, I should have gone down that career path.

I wanted to be a marine biologist because I loved, loved LOVED the movie Free Willy (Free Willy II & III...don't judge!) What little kid doeesn't want to swim with dolphins and whales. Nevermind the fact that I'm terrified of swimming in the ocean. Don't all marine biologist just study at Sea World??

I also always wanted to be a teacher because isn't that what all little kids want to be at one point or another?? My favorite teacher in elementary school was Mrs. Stuckwisch. She was my 4th grade teacher and for some reason, I'm not really sure why, that was my favorite year of school. Excluding college of course ;)

When I enrolled in college I chose my major as Fashion Design. What made me think, a small town girl, from Paoli, IN could be a fashion designer I will never know. Needless to say, I never even started classes in fashion design, I switched to "Undecided" as my major, which sounds about right.

With that said, I'm still "Undecided" as my major in life. Not sure what the future holds, not sure what I really want to do with my life but still trucking along all the same.

She really is like a child

I just got this email from our Doggie Day care that they've just got a new van and will now pick up and drop off your dog for daycare, just like a school bus! How funny is that???

I know some of you are probably thinking already, Doggy Day Care?? BUT, it's AWESOME (side note: Deliliah McAdams I always think of you and 5th grade cheerleading when I type awesome). We drop Lil off at 7am, she plays alllllll day long and we pick up an exhausted puppy at 6pm. Sometimes she's so tired that she just lays around the house for the next day or two, which is highly unusual for a 2 year old (sniff, sniff she's growing up) lab.

We love our doggy daycare and they looooove Lily. She got to try dock jumping last week and they were all cheering her on. Surprisingly she would not jump in the water! Anyone who knows her knows if there is water, she's getting in it, no matter what. She was very hesitant about jumping in off the dock, but when she finally jumped in, not surprisingly she wouldn't get out. She just kept swimming laps around the pool :)

Anyway, the email made me laugh, to think about loading your dog up with a little back pack and sack lunch into the day care van and shipping her off to school! Maybe it will make you smile too :) And if that didn't, this really will!

Happy Birthday Lily!

I can't believe our little Lily is already 2 years old!
She was oh so tiny when we first got her, it's really hard to believe that she was that tiny. I used to carry her around! There is NO WAY I would even attempt to pick her up now. Jeff does sometimes and it's pretty humerous :)

Now she's all grown up :( Technically she is not a puppy anymore (but we'll see how that goes!)

She loved her cake, and no we didn't let her eat the whole thing!
